Everyone has Japan’s bottomless powder at the top of their list when it comes to things they love about traveling here during the winter. However, it’s the hardworking crew on the ground who truly leave a lasting impression. They not only help us gear up for the ride, but also teach us how to float on the powder instead of sinking in it, and guide us through the majestic mountains. In our “Meet the Rhythm Family” series, we will introduce you to some of the legendary individuals who live and breathe the mountain life in Niseko, Hakuba, and Furano. They are the ones who contribute to the incredible atmosphere of these fantastic resorts and create unforgettable experiences.

What made you want to go to Japan?
Austin: The world’s best powder snow, culture, food and to better understand the East!
Blossom: The food and nature.
What was your first job at Rhythm?
Austin: Ski Technician.
Blossom: Guest Services Assistant.
What do you do now?
Austin: Rhythm Hakuba General Manager.
Blossom: A part of the HR team during summer and Supervisor of Guest Services during the winter.
What is the best part of your job?
Austin: Sharing the stoke with guests and staff alike. Relishing the faces of humans who had one of the best experiences in their life is the ultimate reward.
Blossom: The best part is meeting so many new people from all over the world.
What would you say is the best thing about working at Rhythm?
Austin: Its a Vibe! Rhythm lives and breathes PASSION for what we do, working with a bunch of like minded legends who, work, shred and play hard never gets old!
Blossom: The best thing about working at Rhythm is how open the company is to change and constantly improving to become better. Whether you have been with the company for 5 years or even 5 days if you suggest ways to improve, Rhythm never turns down good ideas and they are always open to try it out.
What is the best thing about living in Niseko/Hakuba?
Austin: (Hakuba) The heart of the Japanese Northern Alps offers extraordinary daily views, ease to visit other Honshu powder meccas and you can access the hustle and bustle of Japan’s major cities with a quick Shinkansen. Japan is your Oyster!!
Blossom: (Niseko) The best thing about living in Niseko is it’s a very relaxed and easy place to live. Everyone works hard in the winter then chills in the summer. There’s a very nice community here year round and so many activities to do. It’s a good place.
What advice do you have for anyone who wants to work in Japan?
Austin: Just do it! You won’t regret it. You’ll be forever enriched from your cultural learnings, POW, good times and don’t even get me started on the Ramens!
Blossom: Dont think and just apply for Rhythm! Will be the best decision you make! Fun staff parties, lots of riding and partying in town, its going to be fun!
